This house looks out at the countryside the way one looks at a painting one never tires of. Beneath the original beams, kept and laid bare, a panoramic bay replaces what was once a string of small windows: the fields, the tree line and the sky now enter the living room at every hour of the day. The kitchen and dining room extend the same gesture towards the garden, the herringbone parquet running from one room to the next. Nothing was added that does not serve the light — and everything that held it back is gone.
